Our vision is to improve smallholders’ livelihoods by transforming husk into biochar to regenerate soils, increase yields and capture carbon. Smallholders are the hardest hit by the vicious cycle of climate change, soil degradation and food security. We are pioneering an innovative circular economy model with partners in the rice industry to break this vicious cycle. Our first installation in Cambodia produces biochar and sequesters carbon using pyrolysis in a rice mill, to transform an undervalued byproduct of the rice industry into effective and affordable agricultural inputs for smallholders. Our solution is climate positive, supporting farmers to adapt to climate change with more resilient soils, and reducing emissions from the rice industry, by fixing the carbon from rice husk into the soil, where it remains for hundreds of years. For each tonne of biochar produced we sequester 1.6 tonnes of CO2. We are seeking partners to help us scale up our solution.
